As a Managing Partner at Occidental Asset Management, Buğra Bakan, MBA, CFP®, is part of the leadership team responsible for shaping investment strategy, financial planning, and firm-level growth initiatives. With over 25 years of experience across retail banking, brokerage, and RIA leadership, he brings a rare combination of tactical insight and global perspective to the financial planning guidance he provides to clients.
Buğra works closely with clients navigating investment and tax challenges across the United States and Europe, offering customized solutions that address cross-border complexities. Buğra values the opportunity to play a meaningful role in his clients’ lives by providing the clarity, education, and tools to help them take control of their financial futures. He distilled his professional experience into the book Stop Overspending: Why Most People Can’t Save Money, a practical guide to understanding spending behavior and creating lasting change.
Buğra lives in Novato, California, with his wife, Stephanie, and their two cats. Some of his favorite things include playing soccer, traveling by boat, watching Game of Thrones, and enjoying the pomegranates from his backyard trees. He is also the founding president of the Turkish American Solidarity Platform, a nonprofit serving his local community.
