Nathan Hatton Walsh is a Managing Principal at Occidental Asset Management, where he serves as Chief Investment Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. With over 25 years of experience in asset management and alternative investments, Nathan works closely with high-net-worth clients, including multigenerational estates, to deliver sophisticated, long-term financial strategies.
Nathan brings a blend of institutional rigor and entrepreneurial agility to the firm’s leadership team. He began his career in IPO syndicates at Merrill Lynch in 1997 before founding his first RIA in 1999 and managing hedge funds throughout the 2000s. He helped launch Occidental Asset Management in 2013, a milestone he considers one of the most rewarding moments of his career. Nathan is motivated by solving complex problems and reducing the stress that often accompanies financial decisions, with a continuous focus on making the firm stronger for its clients.
Based in San Francisco, Nathan enjoys playing golf with his children, collecting vinyl records, and catching rare date nights with his wife, Wednesday. He’s a devoted LSU football fan, ambidextrous in writing and sports, and a lover of literature, with Where Angels Fear to Tread being a personal favorite. Other favorites include time in Calistoga, Southern cooking, and the comedy series Parks and Recreation.
